The first leg...

With trailer and car laden, we headed off towards Ceduna this morning, waving goodbye to B's mum, we left the cloudy confines of Stirling and headed for the vast expanses that make up Northern South Australia.

This is my first experience driving across to the West at this time of year, it is a truly beautiful sight, green as far as the eye can see, with the spring flowers starting to show their faces in this mild weather. It is a pleasure to drive in such conditions.

The day was mostly uneventful, we were faced with a feisty head wind, and the car struggled initially with the weight, however we managed to get our fuel consumption under control, considering the dodgy/questionable aerodynamics of the trailer.

We consumed copious amounts of rice crackers, soy crisps and fruit, while singing along to the 101 Driving Songs (well I sang, B occasionally hummed a tune!) and discussing the effects of gout, and other medical issues. Making it to Ceduna in time for a dose of Home and Away, a tasty chicken wrap and a cup of the finest tea, in just under 10 hours.

Over all, a fairly enjoyable day, minus the experience at the concrete crapper (bit yuck!). Looking forward to a restful sleep tonight, ready for another day of excitement tomorrow...
