Starting to feel a little like Christmas

My oh my it's been a HOT week! and a very busy one, with Christmas fast approaching it has been great to have the weekend to start to get ready for it, shopping, wrapping, writing and posting are all on the agenda for the next couple of days....

This is what I wish was happening right now...

Dinky Donga is also starting to get her Christmas on, I really wanted a funky cardboard tree from Ikea, however with posting and a dodgy online store (sorry Ikea, I really do love you, but you have to get with the times man!), I was unable to purchase one. Now I am looking down the road of a fake tree and that just makes me cringe, luckily I'm off to Kunus (aka Kununurra, big smoke) this week for a dreaded dentist appointment, so I shall go in search of a real tree, if not a fur maybe something else that I can decorate to my hearts content!! In the meantime, I have started to hang Christmas decorations around, I LOVE this time of year!!

On the decoration front, I have started to make a few crochet decorations using the limited yarn I have at the moment to send to friends and family...I love the calm that I feel when I sit and crochet, it relaxes me and I feel so PRODUCTIVE!

Meet Horatio

Yesterday Halls Creek celebrated Christmas with a Christmas float parade, decked out trucks and hilux utes anyone??

I braved the scorching temps and went into town to grab a few pics and see just how well Halls Creek celebrates Christmas...In true HC style, the parade was at least an hour late in getting started, not that seemed to deter anyone, kids everywhere were armed with plastic bags full of water bombs ready to pelt at the unsuspecting/suspecting (some were smart and bought a brollie) float riders. Unfortunately Fortunately (hehe) the firies had a heads up and were armed with super big hoses to get their own back!! It was a rather charming experience and the kids seem to love it, it is for them after all!

Lastly, I am sure you are sick of seeing pics of my Cassia tree, but I had to share another, this tree has been flowering for weeks and weeks now with no sign of letting up any time soon, everything else around it is starting to shrivel as the days without rain grow, but the Cassia continues to spread joy with her bright yellow glow! Whenever I go outside or walk up to the house I see her and smile, how could you not when faced with such bright beauty!!! She looks so funny next to Dinky Donga, but I am so grateful to whoever planted her in our garden.

Well, I must be off, have to prepare myself for an evening of playing rescue dummy for lifeguard re-quals at the pool! Fun times!!!

How are your Christmas preparations going? Where do you find joy?

Peace
