Beaches and Ice cream

It's been a busy week for me, Monday morning my phone vibrated and buzzed at 730am with an unknown number, it was one of the local primary schools, after a relief teachers assistant for the day (not actually teaching, but just helping the teacher out and working with students that may require extra support - just to clarify). The week continued in a similar manner with only Wednesday call free. By the end of the week I was knackered although I can't deny it's good to be working and starting to meet people here.

We did manage some beach time however over the weekend, with a visit to Cable Beach, about a 10min drive from where we are staying. It's quite spectacular. Here are some pics.

We stayed and watch the sunset, it was just beautiful, photos don't do it justice.

A couple of nights later, we decided to brave the very low tide 0.81m and try and find the flying boat wrecks off town beach (our beach). Apparently there are air-plane wrecks from World War II when Japan bombed the area, and according to the information guides they are visible at such low tides...Well, we didn't see any boat wrecks, however we did come across some interesting creatures as we walked along the bottom of the ocean.

I think this guy had gone to a better place... :(

Hermit crabs everywhere, some with classy houses.

Looking back to the shore line.

Both of us have been very wary about swimming or even touching the sea water, with talk of crocs and stingers, however, apparently this is the safest time of year, and lots of people swim. Anxiety made for a hilarious walk along the ocean floor, with heads bowed and eyes peeled for any sign of nasty sea creatures. The worst we saw were bright green worms (harmless I believe).

So, that is where we are at. This weekend has been quite uneventful, other than discovering a million little ants under our mattress this morning. Tent living, even though this is luxury tent living, is starting to wear us both thin, and we are looking forward to making a move ASAP (fingers and toes crossed).

Signing off for now, to go and lie by the beach for a little afternoon sun! Adieu xx
